The 2024 WCA Conference will be held November 8-9 in Madison, WI at the Double Tree by Hilton Madison East. Presentations will occur on Saturday, November 9. Students must be available to present their work. Setup of posters will begin at 7:15 am. Students will be notified of acceptance on a rolling basis after October 1 in order to provide adequate time for booking a hotel if needed.
Directions: Please submit all requested information. Incomplete proposals will not be considered. Proposals will NOT be considered unless submitted on this form.
Who may apply: Any current Master's graduate student in a counseling program. Each student that is indicated on this form must be present for their poster presentation. We encourage doctoral students to submit a session presentation proposal for the conference.
What: Students will present new and useful information in an area of counseling. Students may present on research or other projects that have been completed during their time as a graduate student. During the poster presentation slot, students will be present with their poster and answer any questions that attendees may have. Your work should be presented on a tri-fold board. Students may also choose to bring handouts.
Cost*: There will be a student registration fee that accepted presenters will be required to pay. Accepted poster presentations will receive a discount on registration. By submitting a proposal form, you accept the terms of registering for the conference by October 27, 2024. You may consider reaching out to your graduate program to inquire about sponsorships/grants to offset the cost of attendance.
*Students may also volunteer to assist during the conference. Students are typically assigned to rooms to help presenters with keeping time, passing out materials, and collecting evaluations. We will do our best to match student volunteers to breakout sessions selected during registration but we cannot guarantee this. These volunteers will need to be present all day Saturday. Student volunteers will be required to pay upfront for their registration. They will be reimbursed their registration once they have completed their conference tasks. Please indicate on your poster submission form if you are interested in volunteering. This is a first come, first serve opportunity with limited spots available.
Hotel: There will be a block of hotel rooms for people attending the WCA Conference at the reduced rate of $119.00 plus tax/fees. Please contact the DoubleTree by Hilton Madison East directly at 608.244.4703 and mention the Wisconsin Counseling Association room block or group code WCA to reserve your room. Rooms must be reserved by October 15 to obtain the group rate. You can also book online at the link below.
